8084 students had study stays abroad, and Australia was particularly popular. The year before, 7175 students went abroad to study for one or more semesters, and the numbers for 2023 are also higher than before the pandemic.
«Now more people are going on exchange than ever before, and the numbers are higher than they were before the pandemic,» says Sveinung Skule, director of the Directorate for Education and Skills, in a press release.
Student exchange involves taking a shorter study stay abroad, typically one semester.
Australia is a favorite among Norwegian students, with 1360 students going there last year.
