Special Unit investigates case of secret Støre documents missing

Norwegian news in english: The Special Unit will examine the case where a detailed security plan related to the Prime Minister's recent visit to Røros ended up missing.

«The Special Unit will conduct preliminary investigations and then assess whether there is reasonable cause to initiate an investigation,» wrote the Special Unit for Police Affairs in an email to NRK.

On Monday, a passerby found a document on the street in Røros. The plan detailed where Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre would be minute by minute during Støre’s visit to Røros. The plan also contained detailed information about threat assessments and bodyguards.

Police informed Dagbladet on Thursday that it was a police officer who mistakenly lost the papers.

«It is unfortunate that the documents went missing. The employee in question has already reported and apologizes for what happened. What we are focusing on now is learning and seeing if there are any changes we need to make to our procedures, so that it does not happen again,» said Chief of Staff Geir Arne Sjøhagen in the Trøndelag Police District.
